The comeback of fashion

I think it is save to say that we all know that fashion is coming back from the past. But why? And which aspects are coming back? Because to be honest I don't think people like to walk around in the fashion of the 1900's

Fashion elements from the 70's are the ones you see most frequantly. One of the reasons why could be that a majority of this generation their parents grew up in the 70's. Also people go back to what is fimiliar to them, because that is save. This also has an invluence on the fashion of today.

The fun thing is that we go back what we know, but we give it your own twist.

Some comparasons:

Tea lengt dress

Here we have a woman in the 1920's on the first picture. I am not entirely sure when this picture was taken, but it is pretty clear that it was taking in the 20's because of her clothing. Some aspects of the 1920's are the tea length dress, the little sweet hats and the fact that there is almost not waist line. Like I said we use aspects from the past but we give it your own twist. An example for this is that one the right photo I am also wearing a tea length dress, today known as a midi dress. That is the aspect which is sort of covered from the 1920's, but then my dress does have a higher waistline which the left dress does not have.

The Trench coat:

Today this type of coat is known as a must have in the fashion world. So many people have one in their wardrobe, because this coat can be combined with anything and it will make your outfit look very professional. This coat was very popular in the 1940 and was mostly worn by men. Combined with a hat and dress pants to make a professional and masculan look. It is funny to see that the 21st century gave this very classic coat a different twist, because it is mostly worn by women today.

TIP: don't combine a kaki colored coat with kaki pants (too much kaki).

1970's and its colors

One very well known aspect of the 1970's fashion is the combination of different colors. Maybe the colors which are combined do not even really match, but that makes such a fun effect. Colors in fashion make it more alive and fun. I have to say though that combining to much color can be ... too much, but sometimes it is pretty awesome. One of the times when I thought that the combination of colors was pretty nice was when I saw this picture of my friend Isabel and Kayla. As you can see Isabel is wering a sweater with a lot of colors, both warm and cool colors. When I look at this sweater I do not personally think that it is too much, because the stripes which are used are very suddle.

Instead of combining the colorful sweater with flarred dress pants like on the left picture, in the 1970's, Isabel combined her sweater with some simple jeans. I like this combination a lot because your attention is going to her sweater and not her whole outfit, because she choose for "quiet" jeans.

What band?

Something which was very popular in the 1970's was wearing a t-shirt of your favorite band. This completely came back in 2017. One of the reasons why can maybe be that the vinyl records are coming back too.

To be honest I do not own a t-shirt with a old band on there, I do know a lot of girl who do. One of the reasons can be that their parents grew up in that era (just like my parents) and if those parents are anything like my dad they still listen to all that music. I am not kidding when I say that my dad owns all the records from Fledwood Mac, The Beatles, Micheal Jackson, Rolling Stones etc. That could be an influence on why people my age might want to buy these shirts. An other reason is just that they like the design, because there are a lot of girls out there who bought one of those shirts from Brandy Meville and find out a few weeks later that the logo which they are wearing on their shirt is a logo from a band of the other century.

So I think I can say that this generation is looking a lot at what their parent wore when they were little. It is funny to see that we look so much like our parents sometimes, even though the majority of us does not want to be like them when we grow up.
